Creencias antes/despues de ser madre o padre

Belief before/after having children

In life, we all have our own preconceived ideas about what certain experiences will be like until reality hits us in the face. Motherhood is a rollercoaster of surprises, challenges, and hilarious moments that make our previous beliefs seem a bit ridiculous. Let's take a look at some of the things I believed before becoming a mother and how motherhood proved me totally wrong!

"I used to believe I was tired..."

But then motherhood arrived, and I discovered a whole new level of exhaustion that I didn't even know existed. Insomnia, sleepless nights, explosive diapers at 3 in the morning... it seems like deep sleep became a luxury of the past! The luxury of being tired from studying or partying.

"I used to think I cooked well..."

Until my kids came along, and I discovered that the term 'cooking well' takes on a whole new meaning when you have to deal with picky eaters, food rejections, and the masterful ability to turn any dish into a culinary disaster or otherwise make the simplest or weirdest dish as the best meal of the house.

"I used to believe I had free time..."

But then I became a mother and learned that free time is a myth. Now, 'free time' means folding laundry while the kids nap or trying to make an important phone call while I try to prevent my child from dismantling the house.

But I also discovered again that no, having free time can be FREE, as you want. Motherhood is not a prison, if it makes you feel like one then it is time to take time for YOU. And that's something else I discovered along the motherhood journey, it doesn't make you a bad mother to take care of yourself, to meet friends without kid(s).

"I used to think I knew what unconditional love was..."

And then my children came along, and I understood that unconditional love is cleaning up vomit at 2 in the morning, hugging a child after a tantrum, and realizing that I would give my life for these little human beings without a second thought.

"I used to think breastfeeding wasn't for me..."

But then I became a mother and discovered a whole new world. When my first child was born, I had doubts and concerns about breastfeeding. I thought it was complicated or uncomfortable, and that maybe it wouldn't be for me. However, after researching, receiving support, and educating myself about the benefits of breastfeeding, I decided to give it a chance. To my surprise, I found it to be an incredibly rewarding and exciting experience.

"I used to think there were limits to breastfeeding..."

I used to believe that breastfeeding had a limit, whether it was when the baby started walking, talking, or even when they had teeth. However, reality proved me wrong. I found myself breastfeeding my daughter even after she started walking and talking. And now, five years later, I'm still breastfeeding my daughter Léni, proving that breastfeeding can adapt and evolve with the needs of each family (and beliefs).

"I never thought I would create a brand and become passionate about breastfeeding..."

This personal experience with breastfeeding not only changed my perspective as a mother but also inspired the creation of my brand Gotiteta. As I delved into the world of breastfeeding, I realized the value of offering support and resources to other families who are also experiencing this journey. Gotiteta is not only a fashion brand, but also a space to promote breastfeeding, share experiences, and foster a supportive community for all breastfeeding families.

Conclusion:

Motherhood is a journey full of surprises and moments that challenge our preconceived beliefs. Although it can sometimes be exhausting and chaotic, it is also full of laughter, love, and experiences that change us forever. So the next time you find yourself thinking 'I used to believe that...', remember that motherhood has a unique way of putting things into perspective and teaching us that true learning comes with the journey.
